Strategy: War is a booming market!
John Priest belongs to the latest generation of heroes who bring humph and personality to an AT–43 company. He’s got style, he’s tough (but not invincible) and his presence can change the tide of battle. Things are never dull when he is around.
Starting with John Priest on foot. An officer wearing a trench coat, holding a laser rifle in one hand and carrying a briefcase in the other, now that’s quite the unusual sight. What is a sales rep doing on a battlefield? Let’s consider the fact that he gets to join any infantry unit and he packs a Cog forcefield. See where we’re heading here? The Cog forcefield: It costs 1 LP to use. It provides 3+ cover anywhere, even out in the open. It’s a pain, but there are ways around it such as indirect fire or a sniper shot…However, ONI armies are not Cog armies: ONI forces include far more fighters! John Priest is able to provide shelter to a large bunch of zombies just long enough to get them in contact. Or else he might choose to protect the advance of an already brilliant and versatile ONI korps unit. Or maybe tag along with a powerful but precious TacArms commando.
Are you catching the drift? That’s not all, there’s more fun to come: Priest is a Daimyo, a rank 4 officer with Authority 5 (nice but not the best though), Leadership 6 (same here) but more importantly…a numbers bonus of +3 that applies to any unit he joins. This includes TacArms. Now you’re measuring the scale of possibilities. Some options might require an awful lot of AP but who cares? Bigger is better, right? Might want to keep out of sniper sights though.
The way humanity’s most dangerous sales rep is played aboard Limo’, his AFV, is different but still a lot of fun. He loses his forcefield but retains his numbers bonus. Limo’ can roll out with three other Medium Destroyers. Yes, Medium Destroyers, that’s right… They are fast. They are mounted with weapons that can damage a C3. And each vehicle comes with an onboard mechanic. A unit of four Medium Destroyers including Limo’ does cost a bucket load of AP but they repair 4 SP per activation, with Armor 14. This unit also rolls 8 dice per medium graser salvo (Accuracy 7), with Penetration/Damage 15/2. The numbers ain’t talking to you? Just know that this unit kicks butt and won’t go down easy. You’ll be getting the most out of this unit in larger battles. However, if you’re one of those players who consider mission objectives come second to bloody butchering, rock on: your opponent will curse you for it.
On foot or aboard an AFV, John Priest is a keystone in the ONI army. He might not be the best commander around, nor the best fighter, but the benefits provided to his company are unfathomable. Once you’ve tried him, you won’t be able to do without him. Well it’s my case.
The only cost is your soul....
I can't see a problem with that idea...
It works for me every time!
You know you want to ;-)
man... can I justify getting into a whole new faction just to get one hero?
Why not... ? I like J.Priest... but I wait till the Krygs are here to make adecision
